People are Talking about Marvo!

I am writing to express KET’s support for your proposed series, My Kentucky Home. KET is always interested in strong programming about Kentucky places; and the subject of this series, with its emphasis on both the community history and issues, fits right in with our overall mission to educate, inform, and enlighten.

The Marvo team was professional throughout the filming, editing, and post-production of ”HorseSmarts.” They welcomed and encouraged our active involvement throughout the project. We found Sam to be honest, professional, timely, and truly committed to producing a high quality product.

I saw Part 1 on KET on Sunday night and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. My mother grew up in Greenville and I spent every summer of my childhood there, as did my brother. I purchased 2 sets of the DVD series, one for my Aunt and one for my brother. This might be the best Christmas gifts I’ve ever gotten either of them.

I have lived in Livinston County most of my life and have family ties in Crittenden County. I watched the show on PBS and knew I had to have a copy of it to share with family. As a child in the 60’s I spent several Sunday afternoons at the movies in Marion. Thank you for a wonderful program and hope to see many more.

What a treasure these DVD’s have been for my family! We have so enjoyed watching it several times, and each time we find something new or someone new that we had not seen before. My father and his brothers said this DVD brought back so many memories for them. They talked of times when they played baseball near Fohs Hall and how they often would hit the ball on the roof of Fohs Hall, and the game would have to be stopped because they would have to retrieve the ball, in those days they could only afford one baseball.

All I can say is WOW. The production far exceeded my expectations…. The MKH Greenville Parts I and II have re-educated, re-inspired, re-assured, renewed and re-kindled each of its viewers. Thank you for your vision, your passion, your talent and your delivery of a production that promises to result in an even greater Greenville.

Thank you for the remarkable experience of watching your tremendously well-crafted documentary, My Kentucky Home, Greenville. I cannot stop thinking about it, and how spectacular it made me feel! ….I laughed. I cried. I learned. I was inspired. I was awed. And I was made to feel so proud of this county’s history, the growth, and our willingness to be there for one another.

The Kentucky Horse Council has an amazing partnership with Marvo Entertainment Group and we applaud their creative work. While we provided the content of HorseSmarts, the staff at Marvo truly engineered the footage to greatness as this award attests.

Madelyn Millard, Board President, Kentucky Horse Council

I think the program was beautifully done; a most intimate and nuanced portrait of a small Kentucky town. It is very hard for me to be objective about this since I appear in it and know so many of the people interviewed; I thought it was terrific and those in Annapolis who watched it with me were most impressed by the quality and depth of the show. The choice of Mary Grace Petit was brilliant as was the issue of integration and African American culture in Princeton. It all rang true.

We both agree things are moving extraordinarily well for this community…. thanks for being the prime mover in this effort to become the community that will set the bar for others!!
